Supporting JDRF: finding a cure for T1D

We are very proud and humble to be given the opportunity to support JDRF Australia and contribute towards finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. Thank you for lettings us be part of your Galas in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne!

The cause: Type 1 diabetes

More than 120,000 Australians and their families are facing the daily burden of living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

T1D is caused by the immune system mistakenly turning on itself, destroying cells within the pancreas that produce insulin. Without insulin, the body literally starves as it cannot process food. People with T1D must receive a constant supply of insulin to stay alive, as well as endure painful fingerpricks around 6-8 times a day to help keep their blood glucose levels under control.

There is no way to prevent T1D, and currently no cure.

JDRF is the leading global organisation funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Our mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications.

We collaborate with academic institutions, policymakers, and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of innovative therapies to people living with T1D.

JDRF supported 44 research projects in Australia alone last year, each a potential pathway to our vision of a world without type 1 diabetes.
